What is it for?

This exam examines most of the organs, such as the liver, kidneys, aorta, pancreas, gallbladder, spleen, and bladder. It is not the recommended test to evaluate the stomach and intestines, as it only sees them partially.

What can he detect?

In the liver and gallbladder: cirrhosis, steatosis, stones, tumors, polyps, etc.

In the kidneys: stones, cysts, tumors, hydronephrosis, congenital malformations.

In the pancreas: pancreatitis, cysts, tumors

Spleen: splenomegaly, tumors, cysts

Aorta: aneurismas, trombose

Bexiga: cálculos (pedra), tumores

What is the importance of diagnosis?

Total abdominal ultrasound is essential for early detection of these pathologies, allowing for faster and more effective treatments. It also helps monitor chronic conditions and guide the doctor for additional tests, if necessary.

What is PREPARO?

  • 8-hour fast;
  • Last meal of the previous day between 8 PM and 10 PM: Light diet (vegetable soup excluding sweet potato and cabbage, fruits, tea with water crackers). Do not consume soda, milk and dairy products (yogurt, cheeses), bread, sweets, and fatty foods the day before the exam.
  • Take 4 glasses of water 2 hours before the exam.
  • Do not empty the bladder until the examination is performed.
  • unless the doctor allows you.
  • Take 40 drops or 1 tablet of Dimethicone or Simethicone every 6 hours throughout the day before the exam.
  • On the day of the exam, take 40 drops or 1 tablet on an empty stomach.
  • Note 1: Children or exams conducted in the afternoon period, the preparation undergoes some changes. Please contact the secretary.
  • Note 2: Patients using a urinary catheter should close it 1-2 hours before the exam.
