Right Hypochondrium

What is it for?

This exam only examines the right and upper part of the abdomen, including the liver and gallbladder.

What can he detect?

Cirrhosis and fatty liver, gallstones, tumors, polyps, etc.

What is the importance of diagnosis?

The left hypochondrium ultrasound is usually requested when the patient has symptoms of gallstones or is jaundiced ("yellowing"). From there, the healthcare professional can determine the best treatment, whether medication or surgical.

What is PREPARO?

8-hour fast.

Last meal of the previous day between 8 PM and 10 PM: Light diet (vegetable soup excluding sweet potato, vegetables excluding cabbage and cauliflower, fruits, tea with water crackers). Do not drink soda, sparkling water, juices, milk and dairy products (yogurt, cheeses), bread, pasta, eggs, sweets, and greasy foods.

It is not necessary to drink water or keep the bladder full.
